101 ~ An Incredible Milestone

Honestly. Does she look like she’s 101? She is and she will tell you about it too!

Yikes, it’s another milestone! How many of us believe we will get to 101? Not many, I can assure you. My mom says she has fooled a lot of people. She made it to 101! She is truly an amazing woman, one that we can all afford to look up to and admire. In this article I want to share a few of the lessons I have learned from my mother over the course of time.

Lessons Learned

My mother, of course, has taught me so much throughout my life. I’m mean, she’s been here for the whole thing! But, some of the things she taught me I believe can be used as a life lesson for all of us. Even in a modern era far removed from the thoughts and ideals of a woman born in 1917! She still has a lot of sage advise and great wisdom to offer.

”When you think you have it bad, just take a look over your shoulder, there’s always someone who has a harder life, one that you’d do anything to avoid.”

Life Lesson #1 – BE THANKFUL EACH DAY and KNOW YOU ARE BLESSED. DON’T FEEL SORRY FOR YOURSELF. Leave that to others, there’s plenty of that already in this world.

”I think I can do a little bit of everything.”
Life Lesson #2 – BE RESOURCEFUL. Make use of the positive influences at your

disposal. Learn something new EVERYDAY!
”Stand on your own two feet.”

Life Lesson #3 – Stand your ground, don’t rely on others to get You where You need

to be. Make an attempt to do things on your own. You’ll find that you Can. We are all born with inner resources, all you have to do is tap into them! Go ahead make a difference.

”I’m not going to let the rocking chair get me.”

Life Lesson #4 – Stay active, keep your brain engaged. Don’t become complacent. Always strive to do more and become better.

There are so many other ”momma” lessons I wish I could share them all – I wish I could remember them all. Primarily, what I have learned from my mom is:

  1. 1)  Be an honest hard worker and always stay the course.
  2. 2)  Always be kind to others, not because they are kind to you, but because it is the right thing to do.

I known I get my grit and determination from my mom. When I work with my coaches and business leaders this is an asset I seek in them. If they don’t already understand it I help them find it! It’s there, you just have to tap into the right resources to find your way?

I have had a blessed life and career. My 101 year old mom is a big part of the reason why. Who is in your life that you:

A) Learn From
B) Admire/Love
C) Respect
D) Reach out to for logic and valuable lessons E) Isveryspecial

TELL THEM —- THEY MAY NOT REACH 101!!
